Lessons

  • Ideal for young beginners and students in the early stages of piano study. This lesson length provides a focused and encouraging learning environment that is well-suited for developing foundational skills and building confidence at the piano.

  • Recommended for late elementary to intermediate students who are ready for a longer and more in-depth lesson experience. This option is often best for students taking on more challenging music and growing in musical independence.

  • Designed for late intermediate to advanced students seeking a more comprehensive lesson experience. This lesson length is ideal for dedicated students who benefit from additional instructional time as they continue progressing in their musical studies.

Opportunities Students Get

  • Recital Participation

Piano recitals are a special opportunity for students to share their hard work, celebrate musical growth, and gain confidence through performance experience in a supportive environment. Participation is encouraged for all students, though it is optional and based on student readiness, preparation, and family availability. Recitals are designed to be positive, rewarding experiences that highlight each student’s individual progress and musical journey.

  • OMTA State Syllabus Examinations

Participation in the Oregon Music Teachers Association Syllabus Program provides students with the opportunity to receive a structured musical evaluation and recognition for their progress in piano study. Students work through level-based requirements in areas such as performance, technique, musicianship, and music theory while building confidence, discipline, and well-rounded musical skills. Participation is optional and based on student readiness, preparation, and family interest.

  • NFMC State Piano Festivals

Participation in National Federation of Music Clubs State Piano Festivals gives students the opportunity to perform in a supportive and educational festival setting while receiving feedback from a nationally certified adjudicator. During the festival, students perform alongside other students within their level and event class. After each performance, the judge provides written remarks, encouragement, and a performance rating based on the student’s preparation and presentation.

Students may choose to participate in a variety of festival categories depending on their interests and goals, including Piano Solo, Hymn Playing, Piano Duet, Piano Concerto, and Sacred Music. Participation is optional and based on student readiness, preparation, and family interest.

The festival program also includes a point-based achievement system known as Gold Cup earning. Students earn points through successful yearly participation and ratings received at festival. As points accumulate over multiple years, students may qualify for various Gold Cup awards recognizing their continued dedication, progress, and musical achievement.
